Is it safe to relax on ICD-10?
Considering the industry-wide concern ahead of the October 1, 2015 implementation of the International Classification of Disease, Tenth Edition (ICD-10) coding standards, the transition seems to have gone relatively smoothly. Clinical Decision Support: Building a Standardized Process for the 2017 Deadline
It’s no secret that IT standards in healthcare are changing rapidly. 2014: The Year of Interoperability
As we head into the New Year, it’s important to proactively consider the changes that are taking place within the healthcare industry. Now that it’s been a couple of days since my colleagues and I returned from the 99th Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting in Chicago, we’ve had some time to digest all of the conversations from the show floor, sessions and client meetings. ICD-10 Is Less Than a Year Away: Are You Prepared?
ICD-10 has been called one of the most comprehensive healthcare initiatives in the past 30 years. With a much larger code set than ICD-9, the increased size of ICD-10 provides the ability to code medical diagnoses with better accuracy. Also, unlike ICD-9, the new code set enables providers to document and report the technology used in procedures, providing a level of granularity that will help medical imaging deliver enhanced service to patients on initial and recurring visits.

Top Ways an Enterprise-wide Imaging Strategy Benefits ACOs
At the risk of stating the obvious, accountable care organizations (ACOs), at their most fundamental level, are about accountability – holding member physicians, hospitals and other providers accountable for the quality and cost of the care they give their patients. After all, an ACO’s primary mission, when all is said and done, is to improve quality, reduce costs and increase efficiency by coordinating patients’ healthcare needs.
