Digital radiography: Embracing the change, reaping the rewards

For many who attended AAOS (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons) in San Diego last week, the issue of decreasing reimbursements was a hot topic and one that ranked high on the priority list for practices to address. After all, those still using analog equipment will face a 20 percent reduction in reimbursements this year, followed by a 7 percent cut in 2018 for using computed radiography (CR) instead of digital radiography (DR).

For one outpatient facility, upgrading to DR has helped with the reimbursement issue and a number of other practice challenges.
