“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” -- Dr. Seuss
And better it keeps on getting…
Every year, Merge organizes a major event to thank its valued customers for their trust, to share industry updates and trends, and to listen to healthcare providers’ new ideas and needs. This year was quite the success as Merge hosted a three day, in-person conference from Dr. Seuss’s home, San Diego, CA.
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
Merge Live opened with discussions about the recent changes the company has (and still is) undergoing. Merge not only welcomed long-time customers, but also new ones who recently joined the family following the DR Systems acquisition. Justin Dearborn, Chief Executive Officer and Dr. Murray Reicher, Chief Medical Officer shared the company’s vision and values that have unified the two businesses. With the recent IBM acquisition announcement, everybody was eager to also learn more about the ascension of Merge into the IBM Watson Health organization. While details were still scarce due to the pending M&A legal process, Andy Warzecha, IBM VP & Integration Executive, shared how Watson’s supportive and predictive analytics will add value to healthcare like it has already done for many other industries.
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”
This year, Merge Live offered five customized learning tracks: Radiology Workflow & Billing, Cardiology, Merge PACS™, Merge Unity RIS/PACS™, and Specialties. Additionally, Merge offered three general sessions and two dedicated roadmaps for interoperability. Attendees were given the option to join tracks of their interest and participate in customer-led panel discussions, clinical case studies, and courses approved for continuing education credits. Industry insights were also offered with keynote presentations from Sruti Nataraja
, Practice Manager from The Advisory Board Company who shared key upcoming forces shaping the Imaging Market and Aaron Carroll
, MD and health policy expert, talking about how healthcare IT continues to impact the whole US healthcare system. Finally, customers shared best practices and learned how their feedback continues to impact Merge’s product development and strategy.
“It is fun to have fun but you have to know how.”
Merge Live was more than learning and sharing experiences, it was also about fun. The event was held in Paradise Point Resort & Spa, a 44-acre island with a mile of sandy beach and activities for all ages. Food was delicious, a raffle offered great prices, and attendees brought along their families to enjoy the event. This was also a great opportunity for Merge to thank customers for their loyalty and partnership in developing personalized solutions. It was a tremendous honor for the company to recognize a few key customers for their contributions and stewardship.
“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.”
Merge Live 2015 is now behind us, but the collaboration ensues. Merge has never been so energized by its customers and so thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve them. We look forward to strengthening our community with more events and ever growing discussions.
