Milwaukee, WI, August 13, 2002
Milwaukee, WI, August 13, 2002 - Merge Technologies
Incorporated, through its recent acquisition of eFilm
Medical, attained the goal of becoming a global leader
in diagnostic imaging software tools by achieving a
record 20,000 downloads of its eFilm Workstation software.
eFilm Workstation displays diagnostic images, using
a standard PC and monitor, and provides exceptional
navigation and viewing tools for optimal radiological
interpretation. A 30-day evaluation copy of eFilm Workstation
version 1.8 is available for download at http://www.efilm.ca/products/efilmworkstation/info.htm.
"We are exceedingly proud of this accomplishment.
What started as an academic exercise in 1999 to find
a better and more cost-effective way of displaying and
manipulating images has now become an internationally
accepted methodology in radiology workflow," said
Greg Couch, Merge's Chief Technology Officer. "What
we didn't anticipate was the depth of enthusiasm of
our users. Their zealousness about eFilm Workstation
was the catalyst for continued enhancement of the product
and the addition of features, such as 3D/MIP and MPR,
in our new 1.8 release. Appreciation for our customers'
loyalty was instrumental in our decision to maintain
eFilm Workstation's high-value-for-price model. We are
committed to this unique model going forward."
"The functional efficacy and cost-effectiveness
of eFilm Workstation has allowed us to change the way
we practice Radiology," said Stanley Smazal, MD,
Radiologist at Radiology Imaging Associates of Colorado.
"We can share images with multiple clinicians,
access images from multiple locations, and view and
manipulate the images to optimize interpretation. Incorporating
eFilm Workstation into our radiology workflow has had
a significant economic and clinical impact."
"The additional functionality of version 1.8 provides
an opportunity for superior softcopy reading for hospitals,
imaging centers, and physician practices that wish to
extend the accessibility of their current PACS. It immediately
increases the number and type of clinicians who can
gain from using eFilm's powerful image viewing tools.
eFilm Workstation is also a great solution for those
who do not have the financial resources for a full PACS,"
said Matt Anderson, Chief Information Officer at University
Health Network, Toronto, Ontario, a long-time customer
of eFilm. "We have been extremely pleased with
the product and the range of support services that eFilm
offers."
Rich Linden, Merge's President and CEO said, "The
global acceptance of eFilm Workstation is indicative
of the depth of clinical and technical understanding
of radiology workflow that we possess. I'm particularly
pleased with the accelerating usage of eFilm Workstation
as an enterprise-wide method for clinical image interpretation
and review. We are well positioned to continue delivering
increased value and solution to these customers using
the combined strengths of the new Merge organization."
