Fusion Server 1.0.
Server Platform and software application modules provide
all-in-one PACS, Web Distribution and Teleradiology;
Software-only approach provides flexible, scalable and
affordable workflow solution.
Milwaukee, WI, September 30, 2002
Milwaukee, WI, September 30, 2002 Merge eFilm
today announced the release of FUSION Server 1.0, an
integrated approach to filmless medical image and information
management, designed to optimize workflow among clinicians
throughout the healthcare enterprise. FUSION Server
integrates database, image storage, and workflow capabilities
on a unified, scalable platform that supports a suite
of application modules, including HIS/RIS integration,
archiving, image streaming, and image web access. This
integrated or "fused" design minimizes necessary
hardware, and allows additional capabilities to be instantly
and effortlessly integrated, balances functional loads
among multiple servers, provides fail-over flexibility,
and is easily scalable as study volume increases.
"FUSION Server has allowed us to confidently transition
from a film-based workflow to a filmless environment,"
said Andrew Watt, MD, Chief of Radiology at Yorkhill
Hospital, a leading childrens hospital in Glasgow,
Scotland. "It has allowed us to build a solid foundation
that benefits our organization today, with better referring
physician access, patient management, and the elimination
of film. In addition, it positions us to leverage this
foundation for a fully electronic patient record."
"With Fusion Server, we were able to maximize
our archive investment and expand access to images beyond
the walls of Radiology," said George Simpson, Radiology
Manager, Dr. Grays Hospital, Elgin, Scotland.
"FUSION Server provided us with a single solution
that is scalable, whether our need is simple teleradiology
or full PACS functionality. It provides the speed, performance
and clinical quality that is crucial for us to have
productive, efficient and clinically optimal workflow."
"FUSION Server is the beginning of a new breed
of software-based solutions that truly reflect the clinical,
technical and referring relationship needs of our customers,"
said Richard Linden, President and CEO of Merge eFilm.
"We have aggregated the functionality of several
PACSbuilder products into a single, server-based application
that delivers functionality to the customer based on
their approach, in terms of timing and priority, to
PACS, web distribution and teleradiology. Multi-server,
multi-vendor configurations that require fork-lift hardware
replacements to accommodate growth are a thing of the
past with the FUSION Server platform. We will continue
to design and develop clinically focused solutions that
leverage new ways of thinking and innovative technological
approaches, with particular emphasis on delivering an
attractive value proposition to our customers."
