Michael Ferro is the Chairman of Merge Healthcare. Mr. Ferro is also the Chairman and CEO of Merrick Ventures, a holding company focused on disruptive technology investments. Mr. Ferro is the past Chairman, CEO and founder of Click Commerce, Inc. Mr. Ferro is credited by many publications as the “Father of the Extranet,” which has served as the underlying technology model for the service-oriented architecture used on the Internet.
In addition, Mr. Ferro is the co-founder and Vice Chairman of WHITIA, a not-for-profit organization that provides access (via Internet solutions) to healthcare and medical imaging to underserved populations in the United States and around the world.
Mr. Ferro is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute and is a Director with the RAND Health Board of Advisors. He serves on the boards of Children’s Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital Foundation, and The Chicago Community Trust. Mr. Ferro is also a Director on the Board of Trustees of The Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, Northwestern University, The Field Museum of Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Commercial Club of Chicago, and The Economic Club of Chicago.
Mr. Ferro has received numerous awards, including the KPMG Illinois High-Tech Award, the Holocaust Memorial Foundation Humanitarian Award of the Year Award, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® in Technology award, and the CEO National Young Entrepreneur of the Year
Jeff Surges

Jeff Surges is Chief Executive Officer of Merge Healthcare. Mr. Surges was appointed to this role in November, 2010. Mr. Surges has 20 years of experience managing high-growth technology companies in the healthcare and information services industries. Prior to joining Merge, Mr. Surges served as President of Sales at Allscripts for three years, where he led the sales organization with teams focused on direct, client, segment, and international sales. He also oversaw the company's marketing division where he directed a single go-to-market approach.
Prior to his tenure at Allscripts, Mr. Surges was President and Chief Executive Officer of Extended Care Information Network, Inc. (ECIN) before that firm's sale to Allscripts in December 2007. He transformed ECIN from an early-stage, venture-backed start up to the industry leader in case management automation technology.
Prior to joining ECIN in October, 1999, Mr. Surges was President and General Manager of McKesson HBOC's Resource Management Group, a division with over $100 million in annual revenue and an annual growth rate of over 40%. Mr. Surges joined HBOC in 1997 from the acquisition of Enterprise Systems, Inc. where he served on the management team during their successful Initial Public Offering and eventual sale to HBOC
Justin C. Dearborn

Mr. Dearborn is President of Merge Healthcare, Inc. and Chief Executive Officer of Merge DNA. Mr. Dearborn has served as President of Merge Healthcare since November, 2010, and as Chief Executive Officer since June, 2008.
Before joining Merge Healthcare, Mr. Dearborn served as Managing Director and General Counsel at Merrick Ventures, LLC. Prior to his roles at Merrick Ventures, Mr. Dearborn served in various executive senior management positions for Click Commerce, Inc., a publicly-traded software and services company. Mr. Dearborn was appointed Corporate Secretary of Click Commerce in May, 2003.
Prior to Click Commerce, Mr. Dearborn worked at Motorola, Inc. where he specialized in intellectual property transactions and held management positions in Motorola’s Semiconductor and Government Groups.
Dennis Brown
Dennis Brown - Director - Merge Healthcare Incorporated
Dennis Brown presently serves as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Karl’s Event Rental Inc. and previously served as Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Apogent Technologies Inc. (which we refer to as “Apogent”), a New York Stock Exchange company from January 2003 to December 2004. Fisher Scientific International Inc. acquired Apogent in August 2004, and after completion of a transition period, Mr. Brown retired from Apogent in December 2004.
From December 2000 through January 2003, Mr. Brown served as a Financial Consultant to Apogent. Mr. Brown also served as Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Apogent’s predecessor, Sybron International Corporation (which we refer to as “Sybron”), a publicly traded company formerly headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from January 1993 through December 2000, at which time Sybron’s Life Sciences Group was relocated to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Sybron was renamed Apogent.
Mr. Brown is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (England). Mr. Brown has served on our Board since May 2003 and previously served on our Board from the date of our initial public offering in February 1998 until May 2000.
Matt Maloney
Matt Mahoney - Director
Matt Maloney is the co-founder and CEO of GrubHub, the nation’s leading online and mobile food ordering platform. The website shows consumers all of the local restaurants that deliver to them and allows diners to order directly online, by phone or through the GrubHub iPhone and Android app.
Prior to GrubHub, Maloney managed technology development at Apartments.com, a subsidiary of Classified Ventures. Maloney also has a background in radiology from when he worked at the University of Chicago’s Department of Radiology from 1998-2000 developing advanced CAD schemes for detection and classifications of masses and clustered microcalcifications. This work included the first prototype intelligent CAD workstation, which was intended to computerize detection on digitized mammograms and was subsequently utilized in the University of Chicago’s Department of Radiology.
Neele Stearns, Jr.
Neele Stearns, Jr. - Director - Merge Healthcare Incorporated
Neele E. Stearns, Jr. has served as a Director of our Board since June 4, 2008 and is Chair of our Audit Committee. Since February 2001, Mr. Stearns has served as chairman of Financial Investments Corporation, a private equity investment firm. From July 2004 to April 2007, he also served as the chief executive officer of Boulevard Healthcare, LLC, an owner and operator of nursing homes, of which he is still chairman. From September 15, 2003 to January 15, 2004, Mr. Stearns took a leave of absence from Financial Investments Corporation to serve as interim chairman and chief executive officer of Footstar, Inc. In March 2004, Footstar filed for U.S. Chapter 11 bankruptcy, at which time, Mr. Stearns remained as a director of Footstar, Inc. until it emerged from bankruptcy in February 2006.
Previously, Mr. Stearns was chairman of the Board of Wallace Computer Services, Inc., then a provider of printed products and print management services, from January 2000 through November 2000 as well as serving as a director from 1996 until its sale to Moore Corporation Limited in 2003. Prior to 1995, he was president and chief executive officer of CC Industries, Inc., a diversified holding company. Mr. Stearns served on the board of Maytag Corporation from 1989 through its sale to Whirlpool Corporation in March 2006.
Mr. Stearns holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A.
Richard A. Reck
Richard A. Reck - Director - Merge Healthcare Incorporated
Richard A. Reck is the president of Business Strategy Advisors LLC, a business strategy consulting firm, and has served in such capacity since August 2002. Mr. Reck joined the certified public accounting firm of KPMG LLP in June 1973 and remained employed there until his retirement as a partner in July 2002. He currently serves on the boards of Interactive Intelligence, Inc., a publicly held software company, and Advanced Life Sciences Holdings Inc., a publicly held biopharmaceutical company, as well as the boards of several private and not–for–profit entities.
Mr. Reck is a certified public accountant and holds a B.A. in Mathematics from DePauw University and an M.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Michigan. Mr. Reck has served as a Director of our Board since April 2003.
