Michael W. Ferro, Jr. - Chairman
Michael Ferro is the Chairman of Merge Healthcare. Mr. Ferro is also the Chairman and CEO of Merrick Ventures, a holding company focused on disruptive technology investments. Mr. Ferro is the past Chairman, CEO and founder of Click Commerce, Inc. Mr. Ferro is credited by many publications as the “Father of the Extranet,” which has served as the underlying technology model for the service-oriented architecture used on the Internet.
In addition, Mr. Ferro is the co-founder and Vice Chairman of WHITIA, a not-for-profit organization that provides access (via Internet solutions) to healthcare and medical imaging to underserved populations in the United States and around the world.
Mr. Ferro is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute and is a Director with the RAND Health Board of Advisors. He serves on the boards of Children’s Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital Foundation, and The Chicago Community Trust. Mr. Ferro is also a Director on the Board of Trustees of The Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, Northwestern University, The Field Museum of Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Commercial Club of Chicago, and The Economic Club of Chicago.
Mr. Ferro has received numerous awards, including the KPMG Illinois High-Tech Award, the Holocaust Memorial Foundation Humanitarian Award of the Year Award, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® in Technology award, and the CEO National Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
Jeff Surges - Chief Executive Officer, Merge Healthcare Incorporated
Jeff Surges is Chief Executive Officer of Merge Healthcare. Mr. Surges was appointed to this role in November, 2010. Mr. Surges has 20 years of experience managing high-growth technology companies in the healthcare and information services industries. Prior to joining Merge, Mr. Surges served as President of Sales at Allscripts for three years, where he led the sales organization with teams focused on direct, client, segment, and international sales. He also oversaw the company's marketing division where he directed a single go-to-market approach.
Prior to his tenure at Allscripts, Mr. Surges was President and Chief Executive Officer of Extended Care Information Network, Inc. (ECIN) before that firm's sale to Allscripts in December 2007. He transformed ECIN from an early-stage, venture-backed start up to the industry leader in case management automation technology.
Prior to joining ECIN in October, 1999, Mr. Surges was President and General Manager of McKesson HBOC's Resource Management Group, a division with over $100 million in annual revenue and an annual growth rate of over 40%. Mr. Surges joined HBOC in 1997 from the acquisition of Enterprise Systems, Inc. where he served on the management team during their successful Initial Public Offering and eventual sale to HBOC.
Justin C. Dearborn - President, Merge Healthcare Incorporated & Chief Executive Officer, Merge DNA
Mr. Dearborn is President of Merge Healthcare and Chief Executive Officer of Merge DNA. Mr. Dearborn has served as President of Merge Healthcare since November, 2010, and as Chief Executive Officer since June, 2008.
Before joining Merge Healthcare, Mr. Dearborn served as Managing Director and General Counsel at Merrick Ventures, LLC. Prior to his roles at Merrick Ventures, Mr. Dearborn served in various executive senior management positions for Click Commerce, Inc., a publicly-traded software and services company. Mr. Dearborn was appointed Corporate Secretary of Click Commerce in May, 2003.
Prior to Click Commerce, Mr. Dearborn worked at Motorola, Inc. where he specialized in intellectual property transactions and held management positions in Motorola’s Semiconductor and Government Groups.
Steven M. Oreskovich - Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Oreskovich, 40, was previously appointed Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Company in June 2008. In July 2011, Mr. Oreskovich transitioned from the Company's Chief Financial Officer to its Chief Accounting Officer and remained Treasurer. Prior to his appointment as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in June 2008, Mr. Oreskovich served as the Company's Vice President of Internal Audit since January 2007, as Chief Accounting Officer and interim Treasurer and interim Secretary from July 2006 to January 2007 and as Vice President and Corporate Controller from April 2004 to July 2006.
Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Oreskovich served as vice president of finance and operations at Truis, Inc., a company that provided customer intelligence solutions for business-to-business enterprises, from April 2000 to January 2003. Prior to that, Mr. Oreskovich worked as an auditor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP from September 1994 to April 2000. Mr. Oreskovich holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Marquette University and is a C.P.A.
Nancy Koenig - Executive Vice President, Operations
Nancy Koenig is Executive Vice President, Operations at Merge Healthcare. Ms. Koenig comes to Merge Healthcare from Merrick Healthcare Solutions, where she served as its Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to joining Merrick Ventures, Ms. Koenig was the President of Click Commerce during its integration as a subsidiary of ITW. Ms. Koenig joined Click Commerce as the director of business consulting and held various positions, including the head of Click Commerce’s European Operations, Vice President of Product Operations and Marketing, and Executive Vice President, Operations. Ms. Koenig became Click Commerce’s president in 2006.
Antonia Wells - Executive Vice President, Development
Antonia Wells is Executive Vice President, Development at Merge Healthcare. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Wells served as Merge Healthcare’s OEM Vice President of Customer Operations. Ms. Wells has responsible for OEM contract management, quality and regulatory affairs, manufacturing, order management, professional services and internal infrastructure. Ms. Wells has over 25 years of business management experience, including leadership roles in IT, enterprise system implementation, process re–engineering, and human resources.
Steve Martin - Senior Vice President - Sales
Steve Martin is the Senior Vice President of Sales at Merge Healthcare. Mr. Martin has a 20 year career in the healthcare IT industry, including his most recent role as Senior Vice President of Segment Sales at Allscripts, where he served the acute and post-acute industries following Allscripts’ acquisition of Extended Care Information Services (ECIN) in December, 2007. Mr. Martin was part of the executive management team at ECIN, where they worked to change the way the transition of care took place from the acute to post-acute settings.
Mr. Martin has also held positions with McKesson HBOC and CCC Information Services and serves on the Board of Directors for WoundRounds, an electronic documentation and wound care management systems.
Steve Tolle - Senior Vice President, Solutions Management
Steve brings over 20 years of unique healthcare industry experience working in start-up or high-growth organizations in multiple healthcare sectors including healthcare technology and information exchange (HIE), pharmaceuticals, managed care, behavioral healthcare, academic medicine, Preferred Provider Organizations and disease management organizations.
Prior to joining Merge, Steven served as Senior Vice President/General Manager at OptumInsight (formerly known as Ingenix), where he led the physician community business unit. Prior to OptumInsight, he served as a Vice President of Solutions Management at Allscripts, where he was responsible for the electronic health record (EHR) portfolio. Other healthcare roles include Director of Business Development at Pfizer Health Solutions; Director of Managed Care for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University; Director of Technology Development at MultiPlan, a national PPO based in New York; and National Account Executive for Prudential Healthcare.
Peter J. Urbain - Senior Vice President Partners & International
At Merge, Peter is responsible for a global team who manages strategic relationships with the world’s largest original equipment manufacturers, multi-national hardware and software partners, and local international distributors who either re-sell Merge products or who provide hardware, software and services that, when combined with Merge software, deliver bundled solutions to target market segments.
Prior to Merge, Peter was the IBM Manager responsible for large Healthcare and Life Sciences accounts in the Chicagoland area. In this role, he oversaw the activities of seven sales executives and indirectly managed an extended team of over 100 focused on driving customer value in the extended Chicago “healthcare ecosystem.” His responsibilities included all IBM products across hardware, software and services brands sold via all channels including Business Partners. Previously at IBM, Peter was a Client Manager and Solutions Executive and Executive Consultant focusing on the property and casualty insurance, financial services and retail industries.
Prior to IBM, Peter had a number of leadership roles including Executive Recruiter at the industry leader retained search firm, Founder and Chief Operating Officer of a “business to consumer” internet start-up, President of New Media for an entertainment start-up and Group Vice President Sales and Operations at an industry leading information services provider targeting property & casualty insurance companies and the automotive industry.
