Watson Health’s Guide to Certified Technology for ONC/CMS Programs

Starting in 2017, Certified Technology for the US government CMS/ONC programs changed. Physician provider reimbursement dependent on certified EHR technology (CEHRT) changed from the Meaningful Use program to the Quality Payment Program (QPP), which provides two different routes to gain quality incentive reimbursements: APM or MIPS. Hospitals continued to follow the Meaningful Use program.

Imaging-specific measures are currently limited to ordering in the Meaningful Use program. As such, Watson Health’s current CEHRT for this program is limited to Merge LIS. Our 2014 CEHRT for all other products has been retired and we do not intend to pursue 2015 certification. We continue to monitor new phases of the program for the re-inclusion of imaging measures.

Many of our physician practice customers have historically depended on us for CEHRT to successfully participate in the Meaningful Use program. As these customers moved to the QPP reporting, mainly through MIPS, many had very limited use for CEHRT. Despite this, we have opted to maintain our CEHRT for customers who may need it. As QPP has allowed 2014 CEHRT for 2017 and 2018 reporting, we have maintained our 2014 CEHRT for several of our products.
