CADstream Software-Only Hardware Recommendations

The software-only configuration of CADstream should be installed on a hardware that meets recommended requirements. Following are specifications that correspond to the Distributed (medium volume site) and Enterprise (high volume site) level hardware configurations for CADstream.

Merge Healthcare strongly recommends that customers add security software to the CADstream system. The following security packages have been validated with CADstream.
  • MS Forefront: 1.0.0.0
  • Symantec: 11.0.5002.333

Component Distributed Server Enterprise Server
Processor One Quad-Core Processor (2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz memory) Two Eight-Core Processors (2.3 GHz, 1333 MHz memory)

Memory 4 GB, 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC RAM 8 GB, 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC RAM

Hard Drive 200 GB.
Additional storage is required for the study database and the optional CADalog study database. A minimum of three drives in a RAID 5 configuration is recommended.
Note: The size of the partition is dependant how you plan to implement CADstream, i.e., volume (number of study performed per day) and amount of time the study should remain in the cache (few days to several weeks).

* The CADstream application (server and client) uses a bundled installation of Java. The JREs identified above are used by Web-based Java applets in the CADstream Web interface.
* For CADstream servers running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008, security features inherent to the operating system require a user to be logged in to the server for the CADstream rendering services to function. The user may lock the screen or use a password-protected screensaver, but must remain logged in. If there is no user is logged in to the CADstream server, data processing will not occur. To check the status of the processing, go to the Study List page. For details on using the Study List page, refer to the “Site Preferences” chapter in the CADstream Reference Guide.
